Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies (DisCos) improved their revenue collection performance in April 2026; however, widespread inefficiencies in billing and revenue recovery continue to undermine the power sector’s sustainability. This is the central finding of the latest performance factsheet published by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Tuesday. A review of the report shows that the 11 electricity distribution companies collectively received electricity valued at ₦302.96 billion during the month. The Lagos State Government has postponed all Basic Education Certificate Examination papers earlier scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, following the declaration of the Oro Festival in parts of Ikorodu Division. The state government announced the postponement in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday. Former Goliath Ventures CEO Christopher Alexander Delgado pleaded guilty to his role in a crypto investment scheme that prosecutors said raised at least $400 million from investors.On Tuesday, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said Goliath promised investors monthly returns generated through digital asset liquidity pools between January 2023 and January 2026. The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Tsoho, has issued new guidelines for the hearing of pre-election cases, introducing stricter timelines for filing and hearing suits while directing court registries nationwide to remain open on weekends and public holidays to receive pre-election filings. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says the average fare paid by commuters for bus journeys within Nigerian cities rose to N1,431.25 per trip in May, underscoring the continued rise in transport costs across the country. The bureau disclosed this in its latest Transport Fare Watch report released on Tuesday. According to the report, the average intra-city bus fare increased by 2.43 per cent from N1,397.27 recorded in April.
