The Plateau State Peace Committee has formally adopted the report of a subcommittee chaired by former Governor Joshua Dariye as the framework for addressing the state’s persistent security challenges and advancing reconciliation, the state government announced on Wednesday. The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, said the committee unanimously adopted the report during a meeting convened by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, describing it as “a working document that will guide the implementation of practical measures towards lasting peace, unity, and development in the state.” According to the commissioner, the committee also resolved that the government should begin preparations for Plateau…

Nigeria’s march toward state police is no longer a fringe idea in constitutional debate. It is fast becoming a mainstream policy response to a security system widely seen as overstretched, centralised, and too distant from the varied threats confronting different parts of the country. From banditry in the North-West to communal violence in the Middle Belt, kidnapping in the South-East and North-Central, and urban crime across major cities, insecurity in Nigeria is intensely local in how it begins, spreads, and is experienced. The case for decentralising policing is therefore understandable, and increasingly difficult to dismiss. Yet state police alone will…

I couldn’t believe it. Surely Dbrand had to have seen this coming. There must be a plan B, right?“There is no further plan. We fucked this one up,” Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz now tells me.He says Dbrand will now have to destroy every single cube it manufactured, and it won’t even get to throw them in an incinerator for thematically appropriate fun. Here’s the good news: I took up-close-and-personal photos of the (likely) copyright-infringing gadget for posterity on June 19th, before the lawyers struck. You can wistfully imagine what could have been, or use them as an outlet for your schadenfreude…

Cryptocurrency markets entered the third quarter of 2026 with less leverage but thinner liquidity after a wave of liquidations cleared speculative positions while major sources of demand weakened during the second quarter.  According to a market update from institutional data provider Talos, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) long liquidations totaled $8.35 billion in Q2. The data provider pointed out that the deleveraging coincided with spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) outflows, reduced Bitcoin buying by Strategy and a contraction in stablecoin supply. While the reset left the market more stable heading into Q3, Talos said reduced order-book depth weakened its ability to absorb…

The latest development overturns some of the biggest victories recorded in the primaries by Governor Hyacinth Alia’s…

If we assume that kidnapping, insurgency and other security problems are politically motivated, then the solution is political not military and we must tackle these challenges through dialogue. As Sir Winston Churchill, the former British Prime Minister once said, “to jaw-jaw is always better than to war-war”. The phrase simply means that it is always better to negotiate and talk things out than to result to conflict. But then the initiative must come from the government itself especially the President. I am not referring to dialogue between the people and the kidnappers, the terrorists and the militants, I am referring…
