Taiwanese lawmakers on Tuesday passed a law to establish a regulatory framework for crypto, which includes licensing and rules for stablecoins.The country’s financial watchdog, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), said that the Legislative Yuan passed the law requiring all virtual asset service providers, or VASPs, to get approval from the regulator to operate.The law also says stablecoins issued in the country must get approval from the central bank and the FSC, and issuers must maintain sufficient reserves with a trustee and undergo regular audits.The law is the first to regulate crypto and stablecoins in Taiwan, bringing it in line with…

The Nigeria Police Force in Akwa Ibom State has arrested the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Ewa Okpo, over allegations of criminal defamation, cyberstalking and related offences arising from his social media posts. A new six-year investigation by the Observatory for Religious Freedom in Africa has revealed that 79,323 people were killed in terrorism-related violence in Nigeria between 2020 and 2025, while 34,773 civilians were abducted during the period.
