Firefighters on Saturday averted a major disaster in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, after preventing a petrol tanker carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit from exploding following a mechanical fault. The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. at Madi Junction along the Oko-Olowo Expressway. The Kwara State Fire Service, in a statement by its spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, said the tanker developed a mechanical fault while in transit. A student of an unnamed university in Delta State, South-south Nigeria, Jeremia Elele, has allegedly defrauded about 60 new students of the university of N15 million. The police spokesperson in Delta State, Bright Edafe, in a video clip uploaded on his X handle on Friday said Mr Elele separately collected monies from victims in order to help them pay their tuition fees.
