The Zamfara State government has approved six months’ maternity leave for female civil servants as part of efforts to promote exclusive breastfeeding and improve maternal and child health. The State Head of Service, Yakubu Haidara, announced the approval on Thursday in Gusau while receiving a delegation from Civil Society–Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN). The Federal High Court in Gombe has reserved judgement in a suit filed by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Khamisu Mailantarki, challenging the outcome of the party’s governorship primary conducted on 26 May. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has demanded a public apology from the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, over claims that his vehicle was “unjustly” clamped at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, describing the allegation as false.
