The Nigeria Democratic Congress has dismissed reports claiming that it lacks governorship candidates in 12 states ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the allegation as false and politically motivated. The Lagos Waste Management Authority has disengaged some street sweepers, their supervisors and the service provider responsible for their operations over alleged indiscriminate waste dumping along the Oworonshoki-Beger axis of Lagos. The decision followed investigations and surveillance by the Authority, which established that the affected sweepers were allegedly involved in dumping waste on the median, an area identified as a recurring waste blackspot. An Egyptian court sentenced a well-known television presenter and 11 others to death for manufacturing and trafficking narcotics in a sprawling drugs case, official media reported on Saturday. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has criticised the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, over his claim that Nigeria has defeated terrorists and that insecurity has improved under President Bola Tinubu.
