The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results of candidates who are below the prescribed minimum admission age of 16 years. The board, however, said the release of the results is only to enable the candidates and their parents or guardians to know their performance and does not confer eligibility for admission. The Plateau State Government has ordered the temporary closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools as part of measures to contain suspected cases of diphtheria in the state. A fire outbreak has destroyed six houses, shops and storage facilities at Kofar Wanbai Market in Kano State. The incident occurred around 9:43pm on Friday at Babban Layi, Yan Robobi section of the market, the Kano State Fire Service said.
