The Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, has announced a temporary suspension of the ongoing 2025-26 league season. The decision was reached following a petition to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, by one of the clubs affected by the ongoing U-20 national team camping. The club has seen more than five of its players called up, thereby compromising its ability to compete fairly. The NWFL is expected to resume on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The African Export-Import Bank has officially ended its credit rating relationship with Fitch Ratings, the Bank announced. In a post obtained from the bank’s X handle on Friday, Afreximbank said the decision follows a comprehensive review and reflects Afreximbank’s view that the current credit rating assessment no longer provides an accurate understanding of the Bank’s Establishment Agreement, its mission, or its mandate. The Gombe State Government has confirmed the death of a newly recruited Nigerian Army trainee, Ibrahim Nazifi, who passed away during training at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria. Nazifi was among the first batch of successful candidates from Gombe State undergoing training under the Nigerian Army Regular Recruit Intake.
