Coventry City head coach, Frank Lampard, believes Frank Onyeka’s experience will help the team get promoted to the Premier League. Onyeka joined Coventry from Brentford in January. The Super Eagles midfielder might play his first game for the club against Oxford United this Saturday. In an interview with the Coventry Telegraph, Lampard said, “He brings a different quality and probably a different profile to the midfield players we have. “As I say, the profile is slightly different and I think that helps us in terms of the options and the competition in the middle of the park for us.”

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen, suspected to be cultists, have killed the President-General of Ogidi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ikwuka Okoye, also known as Anumili. It was gathered that the incident, which occurred late on Friday, was allegedly carried out by members of a rival cult group in revenge for the death of their leader, who was arrested and killed by local security operatives. The Defence Headquarters has issued a clarification on Nigeria’s security relationship with the United States following an announcement by US authorities that the country has deployed a small number of troops to Nigeria. The Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr Nicholas Baamlong, has confirmed 11 new positive cases of Lassa Fever across seven local government areas, with four deaths recorded since December 2025. The Commissioner listed the affected local government areas as Quan Pan, Shendam, Wase, Langtang South, Jos North, Jos South, and Mangu. A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Benue State, Peter Adejoh, has identified full financial and administrative autonomy for local governments as a critical solution to Nigeria’s growing insecurity. Zamfara State Police Command has neutralised an improvised explosive device, IED, allegedly planted by suspected terrorists along the Danjibga–Kunchin Kalgo road in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state. The operation was carried out on Thursday by a joint security team comprising operatives of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the military EOD unit, with support from other security personnel. Nigeria striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has won Nottingham Forest’s Goal of the Month award for January, DAILY POST reports. Awoniyi won the award for his superb strike in Forest’s 2-0 victory over Brentford late in the month. The forward received a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, and drove into the Brentford’s box before firing past goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. It was the forward’s first goal of the season for the Tricky Trees. The strike was selected from seven other nominated goals.
