The Taraba State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a 40-year-old man for alleged possession of a locally made firearm and involvement in illegal checkpoint activities in Kurmi Local Government Council of the state. The suspect, identified as Jonathan Wunuji, was apprehended on May 2 in Visaula town following what officials described as credible intelligence. He was later paraded at the NSCDC state headquarters in Jalingo. Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested a 45-year-old ex-convict, Owen Osas, for alleged armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms. Osas was reportedly apprehended on May 3 during a covert operation along Fishpond Road in Eyean, Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State. The suspect was said to have been found in possession of a cut-to-size single-barrel gun at the time of his arrest. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
