The Lagos State Police Command has announced plans to commence a statewide enforcement exercise against vehicles with covered, obscured, unauthorised, defaced or no registration number plates as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities in the state. No fewer than 11 people, including a pregnant woman and six children, were feared dead when a boat conveying them from a burial ceremony capsized on River Benue in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. Former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa, has demanded N5 billion in damages and a public apology from African Democratic Congress chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo over alleged defamatory remarks made during a television programme.
