The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation into two suspects arrested for allegedly failing to declare a total sum of $461,600 at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport. The suspects, identified as Jamilu Shuaibu Waya and Usman Namadi, were intercepted by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kano/Jigawa Area Command, after arriving from Dubai aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight ET941 on Friday, May 8, 2026. The Nigeria Revenue Service, in collaboration with the Joint Revenue Board (JRB), has announced the implementation of a new Taxpayer Identification (Tax ID) system for all taxable persons in the country.
