Chioma Moses stole the show with four goals as Edo Queens hammered Abia Angels 6-2 on match-day three of the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League Super Six in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The prolific forward opened the scoring as early as the third minute, giving Edo Queens a dream start before Mariam Abdulrasheed levelled for Abia Angels in the 11th minute following a defensive lapse.
Moses restored her side’s lead in first-half stoppage time, completing her brace to send Edo Queens into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
The Benin-based side took complete control after the restart and extended their lead through substitute Precious Oscar, who made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute. Just two minutes later, Atume Doosuur added a fourth goal as Edo Queens moved firmly into command.
Moses then completed a memorable afternoon by scoring twice more in the 72nd and 81st minutes to register a four-goal haul and put the result beyond doubt.
Abia Angels managed a late consolation through Blessing Saleh in the 87th minute, but it did little to dent Edo Queens’ dominant display.
Edo Queens coach Moses Aduku credited his side’s determination for the emphatic victory and insisted they would maintain the same approach in their remaining fixtures against Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens.
“Abia is a good side, but we triumphed through determination. For me, the Super Six has just started. We will approach our last two games with the same spirit,” Aduku said.
Team captain Deborah Odiagbe also warned that there would be no room for complacency as Edo Queens continue their pursuit of the title.
In other matches, Bayelsa Queens defeated Rivers Angels 2-1, while FC Robo Queens beat Nasarawa Amazons 2-0.
