Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah has explained why he rejected Jose Mourinho’s requests during their time together at Chelsea FC.
Salah spoke while opening up about his relationship with the Portuguese gaffer.
According to the Egyptian, Mourinho told him he wanted him to stay at Chelsea or go on loan to another club in the United Kingdom.
However, Salah rejected Mourinho’s requests because he had made up his mind to leave Chelsea for a club outside England and did not want to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.
“I remember I had a conversation with Jose, and he’s a lovely guy. I love him. One of the best coaches I have had in my life, and our relationship is good now. So I don’t want people to think that I’m hating him or something,” Salah told StanSport.
“No, I love him. And he told me, ‘I want you to stay or just go somewhere on loan, then come back, but in the UK because I want you.’ I said no. I want to see myself away now.
“There’s too much pressure on me. I want to go to Italy. I want to play there, and I don’t want to go on loan and come back to a club.”
Salah made his Premier League debut under Mourinho in 2014 but struggled for regular playing time.
He left Chelsea to join ACF Fiorentina on loan before moving to AS Roma in the 2015/16 season.
