AFC Bournemouth have removed defender Alex Jimenez from their squad as the club investigates posts circulating on social media involving the player.
The 21-year-old Spanish right-back will not feature in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham as the club looks into the matter.
In an official statement on Friday, Bournemouth said, “AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back Alex Jimenez. The club understand the seriousness of the matter, and it is currently being investigated.”
“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham, and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Jimenez, who joined Bournemouth from AC Milan, initially arrived on loan before making a permanent move to the south coast club in February. He signed a long-term contract running until 2031.
Since joining the club, he has made 32 appearances this season and scored once, in a 3–2 Premier League win over Liverpool.
The club has not disclosed the details of the social media posts under investigation, stating only that the issue is being treated seriously and handled internally.
Bournemouth are expected to provide further updates depending on the outcome of their investigation.
