Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday after defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park to seal their first English top-flight title in 22 years.
Mikel Arteta’s side secured victory through goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke, recording their 26th win of the season to cap a successful title campaign, Reuters reports.
Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a consolation goal for the hosts, but it was not enough to deny Arsenal the win or delay the celebrations.
Arsenal had already been confirmed champions on Tuesday after Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side four points behind the Gunners ahead of the final round of matches.
The triumph marks Arsenal’s 14th English league title and their first since the famous unbeaten “Invincibles” campaign of the 2003/2004 season.
The North London club were presented with the Premier League trophy after Sunday’s match at Selhurst Park.
Attention will now shift to Europe as Arsenal prepare to face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final scheduled for May 30 in Budapest, Hungary.
