Following their relegation to the Championship, Wolverhampton Wanderers have released 10 players, while Tolu Arokodare looks set to remain at the club despite rumours of a potential exit, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Arokodare joined the club last summer for £24m on a four-year deal, but it appeared the Nigerian could be shipped out this summer after a disappointing first season.
He looked increasingly likely to leave the club at the end of the just-concluded campaign following a dressing-room altercation with teammate Mateus Mane.
The former Racing Genk forward scored six goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions during his debut season at Wolves.
“Wolves have made an offer to captain Nelson Semedo to continue at Molineux as his current contract expires this summer, but the club have not taken up the option in Carlos Forbs’ loan deal, and the forward will return to Ajax,” Wolves said in a statement on Saturday.
“Forward Sarabia and defender Dawson will both depart for pastures new having spent the previous two-and-a-half seasons at Wolves. Both players initially signed during the January 2023 transfer window from Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United respectively.”
While Arokodare remains under contract, it remains to be seen whether the club will make a decision on his potential sale in the coming days.
However, talkSPORT reports that Arokodare will leave the club this summer, with a loan move considered the most likely outcome.
The Athletic adds that the club could seek a loan fee first before attempting a permanent sale at a later date.
