The African Democratic Congress in Yobe State has adopted Kassim Gana Geidam as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The decision was contained in a statement signed by the party’s State Secretary, Mamu Alhaji Muhammad, on Friday in Damaturu.
According to the statement, Geidam’s emergence followed “extensive consultations among party stakeholders and aspirants” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party commended aspirants who stepped down in support of the consensus arrangement, describing their action as “a demonstration of loyalty, sacrifice and commitment to the unity and progress of the party.”
The ADC described Geidam as “an experienced administrator, legal practitioner and technocrat” with a background in public service and banking.
It noted that he previously served as Resident Electoral Commissioner with the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, pioneer General Manager of Yobe Line, and pioneer Chairman of Yusufari Local Government Area.
The statement added that Geidam was a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee at the 1994 National Constitutional Conference, which contributed to the 1999 Constitution.
Highlighting his banking career, the party said he held positions including Head of Legal Department, Regional Director and Group Head at Habib Nigeria Bank Limited.
The ADC stated that Geidam is known for promoting unity across ethnic and tribal lines, describing him as “humble, accessible and committed to inclusive governance.”
The party called on its members, supporters and residents of the state to support his candidature ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
