The National Democratic Congress, NDC, has elected new state executives in Plateau State, with Solomon Ndam emerging as Chairman.
The election took place during a congress held in Jos, the state capital, attended by delegates, stakeholders, and party supporters from across the state.
Declaring the congress open, party chieftain Jonathan Sunday Akuns said the NDC remains committed to inclusive governance and grassroots development.
He noted that the party’s policies would reflect the diverse needs of communities across the state.
The election, described by party officials as transparent, produced Ndam as the new state chairman.
In his acceptance speech, Ndam pledged to prioritise grassroots mobilisation and unity within the party.
He said his leadership would focus on strengthening the party’s structure at the community level while addressing key challenges such as unemployment, insecurity, and social divisions.
Ndam also expressed confidence in the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing growing support and increased membership.
According to him, the party has recorded a significant rise in membership, with over 250,000 new members registered in a short period.
Other stakeholders at the event called for unity and cooperation among party members.
The congress ended with a commitment by the newly elected executives to deepen grassroots engagement and expand the party’s presence across the state.
