A leading figure in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and close ally of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, has confirmed that the party has zoned its presidential ticket to the southern region ahead of its forthcoming primaries.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Galadima said the party is concluding preparations for the submission of its updated membership register, which he stated would be forwarded between Tuesday and Wednesday.
“The NDC will submit its register either on the 5th or 6th of this month. Once that is done, we are good to go,” he said.
He explained that the submission of the register would formally clear the way for the party to commence its internal electoral process.
On the question of zoning, Galadima confirmed that the party has taken a firm position on its presidential ticket, allocating it to the southern part of the country.
“No missing words, we have zoned it to the South,” he declared.
“Therefore, whoever from the South who is interested should go and register quickly.”
Galadima added that internal preparations were already ongoing to ensure the party meets all statutory requirements and avoids delays in its political timetable.
