Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has elected a new Executive Committee, EXCO, to lead the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The new leadership emerged during a state delegates’ congress held in Gusau, the state capital, with hundreds of delegates, party chieftains, elders, and stakeholders in attendance.
The exercise was conducted peacefully, with participants maintaining order throughout the process, while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security personnel monitored proceedings to ensure a smooth exercise.
At the end of the congress, Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako, an associate of Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, was elected as the state chairman of the party.
Party sources said the NDC has recently witnessed increased membership across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State, following the defection of Senator Marafa to the party.
Marafa, a former senator who represented Zamfara Central, is seen as a key figure in the party’s growing influence in the state ahead of the next election cycle.
