Ahead of the All Progressives Congress State House of Assembly primaries in Isuikwuato State Constituency in Abia State aspirant, Lilian Agbazue, has dismissed allegations linking her to the Labour Party and the administration of Alex Otti.
Agbazue insisted that her relationship with the Abia state government is strictly business-related.
Speaking through a recorded message on Wednesday amid growing political tension surrounding her recent interactions with the state government, Agbazue described claims that she is loyal to the Labour Party as false, misleading and politically motivated.
She, “I wish to issue a disclaimer and state unequivocally that I, Lilian Obenwa Agbazue, have no business being a Labour Party member and I am not working for Governor Alex Otti.”
She explained that her contact with the governor was solely in pursuit of rice supply contracts, noting that she is widely known across Abia State as a rice supplier who maintains business relationships across political divides.
“It will be extremely foolish of me to contest an election under APC and at the same time work for a governor elected under the Labour Party,” she said.
Obenwa also suggested that gender bias may be contributing to the controversy surrounding her activities.
