Parents… parents… parents,
When I say there’s serious fire on the mountain burning your girls, I know what I’m talking about! Sadly, many of you pushed them into it and have been enjoying the largesse the men they sleep with give them! What a shame! What a tragedy!
About 11 years ago, on this same column, someone wrote this to me, and I published it:
“In Nigeria of today, moral and family values went out of the window decades ago; virginity is the beginning of poverty, hardship, and hunger for any girl that is not from a well-to-do background in our society, unfortunately.”
Lord, have mercy! Can you imagine the situation today? A lot of you, over time, watched your girls’ journey through the university without paying half of their school fees or sending money to them for their upkeep from time to time!
Why then did you bring them into the world if you can’t take care of them?
Very many of you watch them bring gadgets, the latest iPhone, which can pay your three years’ house rent. Some of them even bring cars home, yet you don’t own a bicycle, but you never ask questions.
Instead, they dazzle you with money, and you keep giving glory to God! Some of you even encourage your girls to follow Yahoo boys and rich men who can splurge on them! Sir/Ma, if you are such a parent, you need to have your brain checked!
Can you now imagine the social media age where sex workers and even sophisticated women come online and proudly say they are into the “ashawo” business, claiming they are making it big and displaying luxury gotten from their sexcapades?
The other day, a female actress whom we all love boldly told the world that she understands any girl going into prostitution, as she may be the breadwinner of her family, and that it is okay if that is what they think would alleviate their poverty, but that they should not stay long in the business. What does that mean??? More and more girls will definitely go into prostitution!
It is so bad that someone called “Portable,” a music artist, once said the cheapest thing to get is a girl/lady to sleep with as long as you have even the least cash!
You need to Google this person’s videos when he is in his element or not, and I bet you would wonder why anyone would want to get intimate with him!
THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER! YOUR GIRLS ARE SLEEPING WITH EVERY TOM, DICK AND HARRY! FROM THEIR LECTURERS TO THEIR LANDLORDS, TO THEIR BOSSES AT WORK, AND EVERY GUY THEY COME ACROSS AS LONG AS HE HAS SOME MONEY HE CAN SPARE!
As a result of this, a lot of them have lost their bearing in life! Too many of them have thrown away virtues and great wealth that would have given them a life beyond their wildest dreams if properly nurtured.
A lot of them have lost spiritual energy that should announce them in the world and possibly make them the greatest. Very many of them have been used for rituals, completely emptied, and have become living dead! Yes! How tragic!
Now, did you know that even girls/ladies from rich homes are now engaging in prostitution because of greed? And of course, you know this is not about standing on the road. A lot of them get their clientele through their numerous suggestive posts on social media, flaunting everything an average girl wants, until she can no longer bear the pressure, then she joins the bandwagon.
Believe it or not, if you raise your children intentionally and in a godly way, no matter the pressure of society, they will never yield to prostitution. However, if you leave them to chance, they may start prostituting from age 16, I bet you!
Unfortunately, a lot of parents have already accepted coins that didn’t last a month and allowed their daughters to give away a goldmine that should last them a lifetime. What more can I say? May we not use our own hands to ruin our future!
