Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has once again made history as the first African artist to surpass eleven billion total streams on Spotify across all his credits.
This was announced on Tuesday by music data handle #ChaftsAfrica via X , naming him the first African artist to reach the milestone.
The post reads, “First African artists to reach major Spotify milestones 1 billion — Wizkid, 2 billion Wizkid, 10 billion Wizkid, 11 billion Wizkid.”
The news comes on the heels of the recent release of his collaboration with DJ Tunez titled State of Mind, released on May 15, 2026. The single recorded over 685,000 global streams on Spotify in its first full day.
Fans have reacted enthusiastically to the 11 billion milestone.
#Cipher2277 wrote, “From star to era-defining artist is the perfect way to put it 11 billion streams shows how far Afrobeats has traveled worldwide.”
Another user, #OziegbeEhi, declared: “12 billion is possible this year,” while #Waveboyoshey simply hailed the Starboy as “Tha Goat.”

Recall that Wizkid, often referred to as Big Wiz, previously made the list as the first African act to hit the 10 billion streams mark earlier in January 2026.
