Supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area have welcomed the emergence of retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed, as the party’s consensus candidate for the Gombe Central Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on behalf of a grassroots mobilisation group, “A Call to Action,” its Founder and Convener, Ambassador Benjamin Mamman, described Ahmed’s emergence as a significant milestone for the people of Yamaltu Deba and the wider Gombe Central zone.
“Our desire for a Senator has just received a great boost through the APC. One of our own, DCP Mohammed Ahmed (Rtd), has clinched the consensus ticket to be the next Senator representing Gombe Central,” Mamman said.
He attributed the development to what he called divine grace and the collective will of stakeholders while also commending the role of Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, for his leadership.
“First, we give thanks to Almighty God for His grace. Second, we appreciate His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his statesmanship and support in making this possible,” he stated.
Mamman further expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, community leaders, women, and youths across Yamaltu Deba for their unwavering support.
“To our Royal Highnesses, the Emirs, District Heads, and Dakachis, as well as our elders, women, and teeming youths, we say thank you for believing in this cause. Your support has brought us this far,” he added.
The statement urged residents to sustain the momentum and work collectively toward victory in the forthcoming general elections.
“The journey to greatness for Yamaltu Deba has just begun. We must now prepare for greater action as we move toward the 2027 general elections. Together, we can achieve more than ever before,” Mamman said.
The group also extended appreciation to the people of neighbouring Akko Local Government Area, acknowledging their role in fostering unity and collaboration.
“To the wonderful people of Akko, we remain indebted to you. You have shown strong commitment to this cause. Equity and brotherhood prevail when we stand together,” he noted.
Mamman reaffirmed confidence in Ahmed’s candidacy, expressing optimism that his emergence would translate into effective representation at the National Assembly.
“Yamaltu Deba must arise. This is our moment—one vision, one destiny, one purpose. We are confident that our candidate will deliver quality representation for Gombe Central,” he said.
The statement also conveyed support for Rt. Hon. Inuwa Garba, expressing hope for his return to the National Assembly.
He added that the consensus arrangement within the APC in Gombe State signals early efforts to consolidate party unity ahead of the 2027 polls.
