Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has said that all hands must be put on the deck to address the growing rate of insecurity in the country.
Obasa who spoke on Tuesday, tasked all stakeholders to find lasting solutions that will bring peace and security across various communities in the country.
He made the call while addressing teachers who protested against the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State.
The protesters were led by the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, in the state, Comrade Hassan Akintoye.
Teachers in Oyo State had staged a peaceful protest against the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in the state.
The incident occurred on Friday 15th May 2026 in some communities in Oriire local government area.
However, Obasa, while addressing the teachers at the Assembly complex, assured them that the legislature remains committed to the establishment of state police.
The lawmaker cautioned social media users against spreading misinformation that could inflame public anxiety.
He said, “We feel the pains of our teachers and we sympathise with them. We are indeed in this together and we will not fold our arms. We are all stakeholders in this situation and must collectively seek solutions that will bring lasting peace and security to our schools and communities.”
