The All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State has suspended a member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Kamfani Auyo, and six other party officials over alleged anti-party activities.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Bashir Kundu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Dutse on Monday.
Kamfani represents Auyo/Hadejia/Kafin Hausa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
The suspension followed a controversy that emerged after a viral video showed the lawmaker receiving a large crowd of supporters in Auyo after losing the APC ticket for the 2027 general election.
In the video seen by our correspondent, supporters were allegedly heard chanting slogans against the party leadership and threatening to work against the APC in future elections.
Kundu said the suspension took effect on May 31, 2026, and was based on allegations of misconduct and breaches of party rules.
According to him, the affected officials were accused of actions capable of causing division within the party.
“The party took this step based on allegations of betrayal of the party, causing internal conflicts, and dividing members,” Kundu said.
The Publicity Secretary listed other suspended officials, including the State Deputy Women Leader, Aisha Adamu Auyo, alias Kande, and the Auyo Ward Women Leader, Yargabi Babannan Auyo.
Auyo Ward Chairman, Musa Idris Zabarau, Deputy APC Chairman of Auyo LGA, Ibrahim Ayama, LGA Financial Secretary, Saje Hadiyau, and Deputy Ward Chairman, Sani Abdullahi Hadiyau, were also affected.
Kundu said the decision was taken under the leadership of the state APC Chairman, Ahmad Garba.
“The suspension is with immediate effect,” the statement read.
He added that the action was aimed at enforcing party discipline and preserving unity within the APC in Jigawa State.
“This action is part of our commitment to upholding party rules and safeguarding the unity of the party in the state,” Kundu stated.
Efforts to obtain Kamfani’s reaction were unsuccessful as calls to his telephone line were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
