Troops under Sector 1 have successfully rescued a kidnap victim in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State after responding swiftly to a distress call.
A military source disclosed that the incident happened around 4:00 p.m. on May 4 in Naka town.
The source said personnel stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ahume were immediately deployed following reports of a kidnapping in the community.
“On arrival, the kidnappers had fled the scene but abandoned their victim due to the pressure mounted by the approaching troops,” the source said.
He noted that the troops rescued one victim without injury and recovered a motorcycle as well as a cutting machine believed to have been used by the attackers.
The items have since been returned to their owner, while the rescued victim has been reunited with his family.
According to the source, security operatives are continuing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and curb further criminal activities in the area.
