The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of the Sara-Suka cult and recovered dangerous weapons and substances believed to be illegal drugs during separate operations in Jos.
Confirming the development in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, the arrests were made as part of efforts by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah, to curb criminal activities and drug abuse in the state.
“As part of efforts put in place by the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, psc(++), FCAI, MSPSP, to curb criminal activities and the intake of illegal substances across the State, the Command has recorded another breakthrough in the fight against crime and criminality.
“Police detectives attached to the Command’s Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit arrested 18-year-old Adam Abdullahi of Yen Siminti, Rikkos, Jos.
“The suspect was apprehended at Gengere while in possession of a double-edged knife, cult-related attire and substances suspected to be Crystal Methamphetamine aka ‘ice,” the statement said.
The statement disclosed that in a separate operation, officers attached to Angwan Rogo Division arrested 20-year-old Khalifa Yusuf of Angwan Rimi, Jos.
“The suspect was arrested at 011 Prayer Ground opposite the University of Jos Permanent Site. Exhibits recovered from him include one knife and some dry leaves suspected to be cannabis,” SP Alabo stated.
The police said both suspects are “currently in our custody undergoing investigation and will be charged to Court upon conclusion of investigations.”
The Command reiterated its commitment to tackling crime in the state and urged residents to support security efforts.
“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to reiterate its commitment to fighting crime and all forms of criminality in the State. We therefore urge members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely, accurate and useful information,” the statement added.

Earlier, the officers of the Edo State Police Command arrested two suspected cultists in Ohonre Community, off Adolor College Road, Benin.
The arrest followed a distress report concerning the movement and gathering of some suspected cult members within the community.
