Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State on Monday.
Announcing the results at the party secretariat in Sokoto, the state presidential primary collation officer, Prof. Aminu Abubakar, said 69,434 votes were cast out of 69,871 registered voters.
According to the results, Atiku polled 68,823 votes to defeat other contenders in the exercise.
Alhaji Muhammad Hayatudeen secured 319 votes, while former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, scored 292 votes.
The exercise was witnessed by party stakeholders, including former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, former Deputy Governor Manir Muhammad Dan’iya and the state party chairman, Abdullahi Maigwandu.
