Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Donald Trump once again — this time for skipping son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding.
“DJTJ and his new bride, Bettina, were married on Saturday on a private island in the Bahamas. It was a small ceremony with about 40 guests, none of whom were his father,” Kimmel, 58, said wryly in his opening monologue on the Tuesday, May 26, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Donald, 79, confirmed Friday, May 22, that he would not be attending the ceremony via Truth Social.
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” the president wrote. “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”
After reading out Trump’s post, Kimmel quipped, “See, he can be warm when he wants to. He loves Don Jr. He just loves the United States more.”
“This is a guy who golfs two, three times a week. He’s going to UFC fights with Vanilla Ice. He was too busy for his son’s wedding,” Kimmel continued.
Kimmel took further shots at Donald’s multiple marriages. The president was wed to Ivanka Trump from 1977 to 1990, Marla Maples from 1993 to 1999, and wed his current wife, First Lady Melania Trump, in 2005.
The comedian joked, “But he did say Don and Bettina are gonna have a great marriage — and this is a man who knows a great marriage. He’s had three of them himself.”
“Poor Don Jr. Without his father, they had to scramble to find somebody else to make a 90-minute toast about windmills and transgender weightlifters,” he went on.
Kimmel then showed various headlines about Donald crashing wedding receptions at his Mar-a-Lago members-only resort in Palm Beach, Florida, joking, “But the truth is, Donald Trump, he just isn’t a guy who likes to go to — oh, nevermind.”
The comedian alluded to reports that Donald Jr., 48, and new wife Bettina Anderson, 39, will have another wedding reception at the White House, with Donald and Melania, 56, in attendance.
“You’d hope so. They live there,” Kimmel snarked. “Can you imagine if they didn’t show up to that one, too? ‘We wanted to make it but we were unable to go downstairs.’”
Donald Jr. and Bettina legally tied the knot on Thursday, May 21, per court documents obtained by Us Weekly. The couple obtained a marriage license in Palm Beach.
Donald Jr. was previously married to Vanessa Trump, with whom he shares five children: daughters Kai, 19, and Chloe, 11, and sons Donald III, 17, Tristan, 14, and Spencer, 13.
