Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1, has withdrawn the suit he filed at the Ogun State High Court challenging steps taken towards the installation of a new Awujale of Ijebuland. A notice of discontinuance dated 22 December and filed at the High Court in Ijebu Ode shows that Mr Ayinde formally discontinued the case against all the respondents, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun. A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Amah Abraham, says the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has not yet recognized the party’s national convention that took place in Ibadan, Oyo State last November. A sea going vessel from Gabon was engulfed in fire Tuesday morning in the Calabar Channel. Reports said the vessel, MV Chimba Express, was conveying scrap materials and other logistics from Gabon. The vessel had sent a distress call en route from Gabon to Calabar. A stampede has claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman, Karen Lojore at a popular Nigerian musician’s show in Nairobi, Kenya. The stampede caused by overcrowding happened on Saturday December 20 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. On-site paramedics reportedly performed emergency resuscitation before rushing Karen to Nairobi West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No fewer than 10 persons have been killed in a road crash along the Jos–Bauchi Road in Plateau State. PUNCH Online learnt that the accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, around 12:12am, and involved four vehicles, two trailers and two Ford Galaxy minibuses. Eyewitnesses said 10 people died on the spot, while several others sustained injuries and were evacuated to hospitals for treatment.
