The Cross River State Command of the Federal Fire Service, FFS, has confirmed an attack on its fire truck and personnel during an operation in Calabar, the state capital. Residents of Makoko, a densely populated waterfront community along the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, on Tuesday, protested the demolition of their homes, which began about three weeks ago. They accused the Lagos State Government of extending the exercise beyond the agreed 30-metre powerline setback without notice or resettlement plans.
