The newly signed players are Ebetomame Oghenetega, Iyamu Blessed, Abdulrafiu Owolabi, Salami Damilola and Ekebuike James. The Edo State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old, Obehi Odine, for staging her own kidnapping, while 11 others were arrested for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping syndicate. PUNCH Metro learnt from the command’s Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, on Tuesday, that exhibits, including firearms, were recovered during the operations. Nigeria’s economy is expected to grow at its fastest pace in more than a decade, after the World Bank upgraded its growth forecast for Africa’s largest economy. In its 2026 Global Economic Prospects report released on Tuesday, the World Bank said Nigeria’s economic growth is forecast to strengthen to 4.4 per cent in both 2026 and 2027, up from an estimated 4.2 per cent in 2025.
