The Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the killers of two policemen who were shot dead along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road in the Orumba South Local Government Area of the state. The directive to fish out the killers of the policemen was issued on Monday by the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Ikioye Orutugu, during an emergency security meeting held at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Benue State University branch, on Monday, ordered the commencement of an indefinite strike over non-payment of promotion arrears, among others. The Niger State Government has defended the award of road contracts covering more than 1,000 kilometres across the state, dismissing allegations that the projects were approved through executive fiat without due process.
