The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has coordinated the successful reception of 1,516 vulnerable Nigerians voluntarily repatriated from the Republic of South Africa between 11 June 11 and 15 July. The agency disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the Federal Government coordinated the exercise in collaboration with relevant agencies and partners. The Niger State government has launched an investigation into a suspected infectious disease following the death of a child and reports that other members of the same family have fallen ill. US officials on Friday pinned the source of a diarrhea-causing foodborne parasite outbreak as shredded iceberg lettuce used by the fast food chain Taco Bell. A federal investigation by the Food and Drug Administration traced the contamination back to a single supplier of iceberg lettuce from Mexico, which was used by Taco Bell locations in five states, according to a statement from the Centres for Disease and Control. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday dismissed a suit filed by Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking an order for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise its faction.
