The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has sanctioned Algeria following series of incidents that occurred after the  2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final fixture against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. CAF’s disciplinary board imposed both sporting and financial penalties  on the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). They cited misconduct by players, officials and supporters during and after the match. Goalkeeper Luca Zidane has been suspended for two matches. He will served the ban during the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a lawyer following a shooting during a masquerade display in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, which left one person dead and eight others injured. Spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the incident occurred on Monday when some youths carrying out a masquerade display clashed with the lawyer, identified as Akpudi Ikechukwu, and officials of the Nigeria Forest Guards. “The altercation escalated and resulted in a shooting and casualties,” Iringe-Koko said in a statement issued on Tuesday. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has halted moves by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and other government authorities to take over a prime parcel of land in Maitama District occupied by Nanet Hotels Limited.
