Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and the only female candidate in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential election, has maintained an early lead in the race. Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State on Friday suspended a N1.3 billion hospital renovation project after publicly querying the quality of work. He cited the use of low-quality materials and non-compliance with project specifications. The project is for the renovation and remodelling of the Gumel General Hospital. Governor Namadi had conducted an unscheduled night inspection of the facility in Gumel Local Government Area. The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of 52 terrace and maisonette units in the Lekki area of the state to the federal government after ruling that the properties were proceeds of unlawful activities. Judge Alexandra Owoeye delivered the ruling on Wednesday while granting an application filed by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Panic gripped traders, commuters and motorists at the busy Challenge Market in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday after a commercial bus reportedly lost its brakes and crashed into a shop within the market. The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested eight suspected cultists over the alleged assault of a 300-level student of the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, identified as Prince Hansen.
