Pilgrims from Lagos State who participated in the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are expected to commence their return to Nigeria next week, according to the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has cleared a former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, says Duke’s clearance came after the Primaries Appeal Committee finished reviewing the recent primary elections. The NWC approved the committee’s report. The Abia State Police Command on Friday confirmed that a suspect accused of raping a nine-year-old child last week is in its custody. While the suspect remains in police custody, women in Ebem Ohafia three days ago staged a protest to condemn the incident, while the community called for calm as investigations continue.
