The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions has directed the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to prepare a comprehensive report on its operations ahead of the corporation’s planned wind-down in 2030. The committee said the report, detailing AMCON’s achievements and outstanding responsibilities since its establishment, should be presented to the National Assembly. Thirty-one companies have emerged winners of 37 oil and gas blocks in Nigeria’s 2025 Licensing Round following the conclusion of the commercial bid conference held in Abuja on Tuesday. The bidding process, held at the Transcorp Event Centre, attracted 143 companies, which submitted about 200 bids for 37 of the 50 oil and gas blocks offered by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has said nationwide anti-crime operations conducted between June 9 and June 21, 2026, resulted in the arrest of 1,198 suspects.
