Nigeria’s merchandise trade, which covers the import and export of tangible, physical goods across international borders, touched N34.8 trillion in the quarter to March as exports outstripped imports, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday showed. Total exports stood at N21.2 trillion, up 2.8 per cent from the N20.6 trillion reported in Q1 2025. The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Oluchi Ugbowan for faking her own kidnapping. The Borno State Police Command has rescued a six-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped in Maiduguri and arrested a suspect linked to the crime. The Federal Government has processed payments exceeding N700bn in verified obligations owed to local contractors over the past few months, including N436.6bn disbursed in May alone, as part of efforts to clear long-standing debts and boost economic activity.
