Baze University, Abuja, founder, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has announced a whopping ₦25 million grant to support academic research into indigenous calendar systems. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may need to sterilise FX inflows into Nigeria from higher oil prices in order to rein in inflationary pressures, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Tuesday. Sterilisation, a monetary policy tool, allows the central bank to limit the impact of foreign exchange activities on the domestic money supply by offsetting excess liquidity in the financial system. Socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has advocated for the enactment of a law that would compel all levels of government in Nigeria to settle contractors’ invoices within 30 days of project completion or service delivery. The proposal was contained in a post shared on Yesufu’s official social media page, where she argued that delayed payments to contractors have continued to affect businesses, infrastructure development and job creation across the country. The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man identified as Musa Adamu, for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a hammer, attempting to strangle her, and robbing her of ₦100,000 in Gombe.
