The Edo State Government has ordered the immediate closure of three secondary schools in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area following intelligence reports of a planned kidnap attack targeting students. The affected schools are Ososo Grammar School, Ososo Comprehensive High School and Makeke Secondary School. The Abia State Police Command says it has launched a manhunt for a Toyota Corolla belonging to a Chief Magistrate in Umuahia after the vehicle was reportedly stolen outside a court premises in the state capital. The incident has prompted an appeal to the public for useful information that could assist in recovering the vehicle. A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Kenneth Okonkwo, has released what he described as evidence to support his allegation of bribery involving the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi. Okonkwo, a former actor-turned-politician, had on Monday alleged that Obi and other NDC leaders in the South-East collected N10 million and N20 million from House of Representatives and senatorial aspirants, respectively. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may need to sterilise FX inflows into Nigeria from higher oil prices in order to rein in inflationary pressures, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Tuesday. Sterilisation, a monetary policy tool, allows the central bank to limit the impact of foreign exchange activities on the domestic money supply by offsetting excess liquidity in the financial system.
