The Nigerian government has signed a deal with Ethiopia that would allow the transfer of over 100 Nigerians serving jail sentences in Ethiopia to facilities in Nigeria. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, disclosed in a statement that the agreement was scheduled to be signed on Wednesday. Mrs Odumegwu-Ojukwu arrived in Addis Ababa to sign the pact alongside the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi. The short play Bella Napoli by Steve Gold (USA) is the winner of the second annual Alexander Nderitu Prize for World Literature.  The 2025 prize accepted scripts for ten-to-fifteen-minute stage plays. In total, 266 entries were received from 23 countries. The winner was announced by Ugandan poet Carolyne ‘Afroetry’ Acen, on 30 May 2026, at the Asian Literary Festival in Kenya. Ms Acen will be the Chief Judge of the 2026 Alexander Nderitu Prize for World Literature, which will focus on poetry. The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) has awarded $1.9 million to accelerate the development of a vaccine candidate against the Bundibugyo ebolavirus, as global health partners intensify efforts to respond to ongoing outbreaks in parts of Africa. The Enugu State Government on Wednesday signed grant agreements with four renewable energy developers to provide electricity to four underserved rural communities across the state’s three senatorial districts. The agreement was signed during the Renewable Energy Development for State Electricity Market (REDSEM) Grant Agreement Signing Ceremony in Enugu.
