An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigator on Wednesday told an FCT High Court in Abuja how former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, allegedly disguised an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft as Nigeria’s national carrier during the former President Muhammadu Buhari administration. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has proposed new rules for prediction markets, signaling that sports event contracts are generally not contrary to the public interest even though federal law classifies them as “gaming.”Released on Wednesday, the proposal distinguishes sports event contracts from games of pure chance, saying markets based on final scores and win-loss records can aid price discovery. The Nigerian government has signed a deal with Ethiopia that would allow the transfer of over 100 Nigerians serving jail sentences in Ethiopia to facilities in Nigeria. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, disclosed in a statement that the agreement was scheduled to be signed on Wednesday. The short play Bella Napoli by Steve Gold (USA) is the winner of the second annual Alexander Nderitu Prize for World Literature.  The 2025 prize accepted scripts for ten-to-fifteen-minute stage plays. In total, 266 entries were received from 23 countries. The winner was announced by Ugandan poet Carolyne ‘Afroetry’ Acen, on 30 May 2026, at the Asian Literary Festival in Kenya. Ms Acen will be the Chief Judge of the 2026 Alexander Nderitu Prize for World Literature, which will focus on poetry.
