One of Nigeria’s telecommunications companies, MTN Nigeria, has restored services in parts of Enugu State following a service disruption that affected customers on Monday. The company disclosed this in a post by MTN Support Services on Tuesday. A court in Syria has sentenced ex-President Bashar al-Assad to death for crimes he committed during the country’s civil war. The Criminal Court in Damascus on Tuesday found Mr al-Assad guilty of premeditated murder, Al Jazeera reports. Mr al-Assad, who has been in exile, allegedly in Russia, since his exit from office, was sentenced to death alongside Ate Najib, the former head of political security in the Deraa province of Southern Syria. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has responded to separate fire outbreaks in Igando and Anifowoshe, Ikeja, recording no loss of life in either incident. Security operatives in Enugu State have rescued a Catholic seminarian and one other worshipper, about one week after they were kidnapped. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) says a total of 53.7 million barrels of crude oil and condensate were supplied to local refiners between April and June 2026 under the Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO). The figure represents an overall performance of 97.4 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Commission’s Q2 DCSO enforcement statistics published on Monday.
