Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Ireti Kingibe, has said she is not threatened by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The FCT senator insisted that no individual controls electoral outcomes in the territory. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that no fewer than 173 people died and 1,000 sustained various degrees of injuries in road traffic crashes across Jigawa State in 2025. The Sector Commander of the FRSC in the state, Umar Masa’udu Matazu, stated this in an interview with newsmen. He noted that over 85 per cent of the accidents were caused by human factors, describing the figures as tragic and avoidable.
