The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered an accelerated hearing in a suit filed by Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Kabir Turaki faction of the PDP against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it intercepted tankers of suspected smuggled vegetable oil and a truckload of soap that entered the country illegally. NAFDAC’s Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Martins Iluyomade, disclosed this during a news conference held in Lagos on Friday. Mr Iluyomade said the smuggled products were brought in through illegal land borders. He said the seizures were part of ongoing efforts to curb economic sabotage and protect consumers and the nation’s overall health. Veteran Fuji singer Abdul “Love Azeez” Azeez Oladeji has been laid to rest in Ojodu-Berger, Lagos State. The 81-year-old singer died at his residence on Wednesday evening after a brief illness. Adekunle Abiodun, general secretary of the Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN), confirmed the death in a Facebook post. A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has convicted and sentenced a woman, Raya Haruna, to ten years imprisonment for transporting arms and ammunition to bandits operating in some part of Northern Nigeria. The Presiding Judge, Justice Simon Amobeda, delivered the judgment on Friday after finding the defendant guilty on a three-count charges bordering on the unlawful transportation of firearms and the provision of logistical support to criminal elements. The Enugu State Commissioner for Health, George Ugwu, has raised an alarm over the circulation of counterfeit Augmentin 625mg tablets in the country, including their possible presence in the state.
