A former Senate Minority Leader, Simon Mwadkwon, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Mr Mwadkwon represented Plateau North in the 10th National Assembly and briefly served as Senate Minority Leader in 2023. Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu. An accident involving a packed truck and a white Toyota Sequoia  has claimed the lives of two occupants of the SUV at the Osisioma axis of Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt expressway, leaving other passengers seriously injured. In response, the Abia State Harmonized Task Force, ASHTF Aba zone, sealed the premises of a company whose truck was involved in the accident to allow full investigation. The Police Command in Kebbi State says it has arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, for allegedly killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, 25, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of the state.
