Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research, is scheduled for release from federal custody after serving 440 days of a two-year sentence.According to inmate records with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Ellison is expected to be released from the Residential Reentry Management field office in New York City on Wednesday, more than a year after she reported to prison in Danbury, Connecticut. The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, says it has reviewed the press statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force confirming the abduction incident at Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. CAN said it recognises that verifying security incidents, especially in remote communities, can be challenging but added that these challenges do not excuse lapses in how sensitive matters are communicated to the public, particularly when reports involve mass abductions and threats to human life. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, upheld the exclusion of candidates of the Labour Party, LP, from the forthcoming Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. The court, in a judgement that was delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, declined to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to accept and publish the list of candidates the LP nominated to participate in the election billed for February 21.It dismissed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2110/2025, which the LP and its candidates in the FCT lodged against INEC. A Kwara State High Court, presided over by Justice Oba Muritala Folorunsho, has convicted 22-year-old Ishaq AbdulRazaq for sexual abuse and exploitation of a five-year-old minor. According to the charge, the defendant was accused of genital rubbing on July 21, 2025, at Gaa-Odota Area, in Ilorin metropolis. The court after thorough examination of the case, found the defendant guilty of sexual exploitation of the child by rubbing his genitals with that of the girl child, contrary to Section 32(2) of the Child Rights Law of Kwara State.
